We're thrilled to finally share what's ahead for Whitemane in 2025: a year that's shaping up to be monumental for both our community and the WoW private server scene as a whole.
The biggest news? Gilneas, our brand-new Cataclysm realm, will become the world's first fresh private server running entirely on the official Cataclysm Classic client! This is no ordinary feat; it's the culmination of countless hours, sleepless nights, and a level of technical wizardry involving reverse engineering, meticulous analysis of assembly language, machine code manipulation, and deep understanding of the original client architecture. Public beta testing for Gilneas is scheduled to launch in Q2 2025, marking a groundbreaking moment for the entire community.
But that's just the beginning! Later this summer, our beloved Maelstrom realm, which many of you have called home since the earliest days, will also migrate to the Cataclysm Classic client. This crucial step will allow us to rigorously identify, iron out, and polish any remaining issues, ensuring Gilneas debuts with an unmatched level of quality. Reflecting back to our early days of Maelstrom development, it's incredible to think about how far we've come - from struggling to even get zones like Twilight Highlands and Vashj'ir playable, to now pioneering the fully authentic Cataclysm Classic experience. None of this would have been possible without your unwavering support, valuable feedback, and endless enthusiasm.
Expect Gilneas to officially open its gates by the end of Q3 or the beginning of Q4 2025, bringing you the definitive Cataclysm Classic experience you've always wanted. Stay tuned, keep your feedback coming, and here's to another epic year on Whitemane!
Thank you for making all of this possible!
